Who Will Run Presidential Election 2024?

Who is going to run for the Presidential election in 2024? Is Donald Trump going to run for the Presidential election?

When asked in a Reddit thread, this question drew over 14 thousand responses. And, after reading through hundreds of comments: the internet has a stronger insight into who they don’t want to see running for the highest office in the country than who they want.

As per the results, they definitely don’t want celebrities, billionaires, and corporate interests.

Will Donald Trump Run For Presidential Election In 2024?

Donald Trump is considering running for President of the United States in 2024.
Since failing the 2020 election to Joe Biden.

Mr. Trump has been out of government since January 2021. He has made numerous unsubstantiated accusations that the vote was stolen against him.

Yet, Trump does not seem to be done with politics. He is currently the leader to win the Republican nomination. He runs for President in two years.

Nothing constitutionally forbids Mr. Trump from running for the Presidential election in 2024.

Trump was the first President to be impeached twice by the House of Representatives, although he was discharged both times.

After he had left office, the second impeachment trial ended in February 2021.

He was dismissed for asking his supporters to “fight like hell” prior to storming the US Capitol building in the aftermath of his electoral loss.

He might have been banned from standing for office again if guilty. As per the US Constitution “Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend beyond removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States,” it states.

However, only seven Republicans accompanied the 50 Democrats in voting to convict, falling short of the requisite two-thirds majority.

Presidential Election 2024: Biden or Harris

election

Some of the Republicans may run for election if President Donald Trump does not seek re-election. And some will run despite that.

As for the Democrats, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are on the list. If Biden wants to be the nominee for his party in 2024, he’ll almost certainly get it. In most cases, sitting presidents are not refused re-election.

But Joe isn’t an ordinary re-election candidate. He’ll be 82 in a few weeks after the 2024 election. And his job approval ratings have been dismal, owing mostly to the economy’s terrible inflation rates.

If Democrats lose control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections, as many predict, the dynamics for 2024 will be revised. Trump’s participation in the 2024 election might have the same effect.

But if Biden retires, Harris might be the next favorite. She has fulfilled her duty very well.

Initially, she was “tasked with spearheading the administration’s attempts to dissuade migration to the southern border by seeking to improve circumstances in Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala’s Northern Triangle countries.”

Then she was chosen to head the administration’s attempt to defend voting rights. It was a  difficult mission to accomplish given Republican resistance in the Senate’s 50-50 split.

Harris has received criticism. She can’t point to any of her own achievements or victories in the last few years. She’s had a lot of staff turnover.

But, none of them is a hurdle on Harris’s way to success. Given the fact, Harris could be USA’s first female President.

What Are The Other Options?

Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota did well in her candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey has charisma and speaking skills. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren are also good options.

During his 2020 presidential campaign, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren, who will turn 75 before the 2024 election, both wowed supporters.

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, if reelected in November, are obvious candidates to consider.

However, will these challenge Harris? Will they be able to raise money for the election campaign?

As a result, Democrats appear to be stuck with either Biden or Harris as their 2020 presidential contender. While Republicans are attacking education, the economy, inflation, crime, socialism, and other issues that should help the GOP candidacy.

None of this implies that Republicans will win in 2024. Macron’s win also doesn’t  “prove” that Democrats can beat Trump in two years. However, Biden and his party are nowhere near where they had planned to be.
