On August 4, 2021, the series’ official teaser was revealed. The series was supposed to be released on September 27, 2020, but owing to the pandemic, it was postponed. On September 7, 2021, the first episode was released.

Netflix holds exclusive global SVOD streaming rights to the American Crime Story franchise (except in Canada) thanks to a 2016 agreement between 20th Century Fox Television (now 20th Television) and Netflix, which predates Disney’s acquisition of FX and 20th Television. Impeachment is set to premiere on Netflix in 2022.

As a result, unlike most other FX shows, which are available on the FX on Hulu hub in the United States, Impeachment was only available to on-demand (and on the FXNow TV Everywhere network) FX channel customers, including those who subscribed via Hulu + Live TV.

Hulu has announced that beginning March 7, 2022, all three seasons of American Crime Story, including Impeachment, as well as Ryan Murphy’s two other FX shows American Horror Story (including its spinoff American Horror Stories) and Pose, will be available for streaming on Hulu, with future seasons becoming available for next day streaming on the FX on Hulu platform.

The season premiered on BBC Two in the United Kingdom on October 19, 2021, in weekly episodes.

Impeachment American Crime Story Cast

Clive Owen, a British actor, has been cast in the role of Bill Clinton, the President who is embroiled in a controversy.

He will feature with previous ACS cast members Sarah Paulson (Linda Tripp) and Annaleigh Ashford, as well as Beanie Feldstein (Monica Lewinsky) (Paula Jones). In The People v. O.J. Simpson, Paulson played Marcia Clark, while Ashford played Elizabeth Cote in The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Billy Eichner, who appeared in American Horror Story: Apocalypse, is also a Ryan Murphy graduate.

Margo Martindale has also been confirmed to play Lucianne Goldberg in American Crime Story: Impeachment, while Edie Falco of The Sopranos was revealed to play Hillary Clinton back in March.

Betty Gilpin of GLOW was slated to play right-wing commentator Ann Coulter, however, she was forced to leave out of the film owing to COVID-related schedule conflicts. “It’s a pain. The timetables simply did not align… I wasted my time listening to Ann Coulter’s audiobooks “She told SlashFilm about it.

However, Gilpin was swiftly replaced in the character by Cobie Smulders, who is seen in the trailer sporting a Coulter-like blonde wig.

Mira Sorvino (Marcia Lewis, Monica Lewinsky’s mother), Dan Bakkedahl (Kenneth Starr), Joseph Mazzello (Paul Begala), Blair Underwood (Vernon Jordan), Mom’s Kevin Pollak (Bernie Nussbaum), and The Right Stuff’s Patrick Fischler round out the group (Sidney Blumenthal).

Impeachment American Crime Story Plot

Impeachment American Crime Story

The outrage surrounding the romance between 49-year-old US President Bill Clinton and 22-year-old Monica Lewinsky will lead to impeachment (an intern at the White House).

Impeachment will focus on “the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp as main protagonists in the country’s first impeachment procedures in over a century,” according to FX, with Monica Lewinsky producing the drama.

The series will depict the fallout from their relationship, which began with a sexual harassment prosecution against Clinton (filed by Paula Jones) and culminated in his impeachment for perjury and obstruction of justice in 1998.

Impeachment would tell the tale from the perspectives of Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp, and Paula Jones, with Lewinsky having a hand in “every word” and “every script page,” according to the show’s star Beanie Feldstein, who spoke at a Television Critics Association press tour event.

Sarah Burgess, the executive producer, and writer said she and Ryan Murphy met privately with Lewinsky for episode two, and she “added a handful of situations that Monica told me about, and went over all of that with her to make it as true as possible.”

According to Burgess, neither Linda Tripp, who died in April 2020 nor the genuine Paul Jones was consulted prior to their deaths.

“Monica had a knack of making us feel… There’s no experience like it, and it was always clear that we’d work with her and talk to her about every screenplay page “she stated, “It feels like our culture produced a second Monica Lewinsky in 1998 that has nothing to do with the real Monica Lewinsky.”

Impeachment American Crime Story Ratings

The season received a 69 percent approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes, based on 71 reviews with an average rating of 6.8/10.

“Impeachment can’t seem to determine whether it’s uncovering the humanity of a presidential crisis or relishing the mythology of its media circus,” the site’s critical consensus says, “yet Beanie Feldstein and Sarah Paulson’s performances ring true in the midst of all the commotion.”

The season has a Metacritic score of 61 out of 100, indicating “generally good reviews,” based on 33 critics.

Allison Tripp, Linda Tripp’s daughter, was pleased with the show’s sympathetic portrayal of her mother and Sarah Paulson’s performance. Prior to her death in 2020, a year before the show’s premiere, Paulson claims she never got the opportunity to counsel Tripp on the project.

According to executive producer Dana Walden, Bill and Hillary Clinton have not publicly commented on the show, despite the producers’ efforts to thoroughly review the content so that it may appeal to them without consequence.
