Jean Pollard’s Childhood and Education:
Acquire Jean Pollard (born August 4, 1994), known professionally as Bobby Shmurda,
Acquire Pollard was born in the city of Miami, Florida. He has a Trinidadian mother and a Jamaican father. Following his father’s arrest, his mother relocated to East Flat Bush. While living in Brooklyn, Shmurda had several run-ins with the authorities, including a fifteen–month stint in jail for violating his probation and an arrest for weapons charges that were eventually dismissed. Shmurda was the ringleader of a criminal enterprise known as “GS 9” that was responsible for killings and non-fatal shootings, as well as narcotics trafficking along Kings Highway and East Flat Bush, according to his 2014 indictment.
Beginnings of His Singing Career-
He remixed Crime Mob’s “Knuck If You Buck” for the first time, but it wasn’t until 2014, when his song “Hot Nigga” was released, that he received any attention. The instrumental is from Lloyd Banks‘ “Jackpot,” which was released in 2012. After being uploaded to YouTube in the spring of 2014, the song and its accompanying music video quickly became popular.
Shmurda’s signature “Shmoney dance,” which he performs in the video, quickly became an internet meme and was featured in a slew of popular vines in the second half of 2014; it was also imitated by Beyoncé and Jay-Z during their On the Run Tour and Canadian rapper Drake while hosting the 2014 ESPY Awards, among other celebrities. A variety of rappers, including Juicy J, French Montana, Lil‘ Kim, Gunplay, and T.I., did freestyles over the music after it was released. Shmurda was signed to Epic Records following the viral success of the song.
