Superstar Rajinikanth has been admitted to Chennai’s Kauvery Hospital for a “routine check-up” on Thursday, news agency ANI quoted his team as saying. The actor reached the hospital around 4.30 pm.
The actor’s publicist Riyaz K Ahmed told news agency PTI, “It is a periodic health check-up. He is now in a private hospital for investigation.”
This comes a day after the actor and his family watched his upcoming film Annaatthe at a private screening at a studio in Chennai. Directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by Sun Pictures, Annaatthe will hit the theaters on November 4. On Monday, the 70-year-old actor received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. He had also met President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.
In December last year, Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad after the actor suffered from fluctuating blood pressure. He recovered and was discharged from the hospital within two days.
After recovering, the superstar announced that he would not launch political parties saying that his recent health is “God’s warning”.
Earlier, the superstar had undergone a kidney transplant.
