Ed Sheeran continues to promote his Friday-release album ‘=‘, this time taking it to the NPR tiny desk. Although shot before hand, this is his first appearance since he announced that he had been tested positive for Covid-19. The British singer is also scheduled to perform as a musical guest on NBC’s Saturday Night Live show this week.

Bob Boilen’s desk in Washington DC, the original concert venue for NPR’s Tiny Desk, shifted to different home versions during the pandemic. The Internet’s preferred original desk hasn’t been used for filming since March 2020.

Ed rented a space of his own, which appeared to be a library, and assembled his band and backup singers to perform tracks from his upcoming album. Played acoustically, the production on the song was still heavier than what was possible in Boilen’s desk.

NS’your size’Singer starts his setshiverFrom his upcoming album and then from Foy Vance’s ‘Cover’cry out‘. He then sang an unheard track ‘Overpass Graffiti’ which could be the next break up anthem. The song’s lyrics read “The cards were stacked against us, but I’ll always love you for what it’s worth… Baby, you’ll never lose on me.”

The other countable tune was ‘at the time of meeting’, a ballad inspired by the death of his friend and mentor Michael Gudinsky in March of this year.

Sharing the news about her testing positive for COVID, Sheeran took to her social media accounts on Sunday, saying, “Hey guys. Quick note to let you know that I have sadly tested positive for COVID, so I am now self-isolating and following the guidelines of the government.” The singer-songwriter continued, “It means I am unable to proceed with any personal commitments now, so I am doing many of my planned interviews/performances from my home. Sorry to anyone I disappointed Yes, everyone stay safe.”

Since the singer’s announcement, both NBC and Saturday Night Live have not provided any information on whether Sheeran will be replaced.

SNL doesn’t allow non-studio performances, but since the singer is in quarantine in Europe to get better, the rules may be changed. Or the SNL team will find a replacement.

Also, many Taylor Swift fans took it to Twitter and asked SNL to let Swift fill in for Ed as the two are friends. And he has music to promote.

Ed Sheeran’s diagnosis was confirmed the day after the SNL slot was announced.
