Actress Rani Mukerji on Monday said her latest comedy “Bunty Aur Babli 2” will see a clash between the “original con-couple” played by her and Saif Ali Khan and new titleholders, actor Siddhant Chaturvedi and debutante Sharvari.
The film is a sequel to the 2005 blockbuster directed by Shaad Ali, starring Mukherjee and actor Abhishek Bachchan as the lead characters.
Khan has been replaced with the ‘Mardaani’ actor in ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’.
Mukherjee, who plays Vimmi Saluja aka Babli, said the film has two sets of “extremely intelligent” couple-goers.
“They are the best when it comes to dressing up because they are the best at deceiving people with this skill. In this movie, they come face to face with each other and it’s a fight to behold, The 43-year-old actor said in a statement.
The trailer of ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’, which released on Monday, pits Mukherjee and Khan against Chaturvedi and Sharvari, as they show their mastery in disguise to outdo each other and overcome the external opposition.
Khan, who plays Rakesh Trivedi aka Bunty, said films made on thug jobs have ‘historically’ big disguises and the Varun V Sharma-directorial is a worthy addition to the genre.
“We have a completely different level of prosthetics and makeup these days, so people can expect really amazing get-ups and disguises from the cast and it was so much fun to do all that,” the 51-year-old actor said.
“Gully Boy” star Chaturvedi says the Yash Raj Films-backed project will deliver on the promise of being a high-end family entertainer.
He said, “I have played so many avatars in just one film! When you do a film like ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, you promise people that they will do extensive harm by disguising the lead actors and the film is super-useful. In this regard, “he said.
Sharvari said that she is extremely lucky to get her dream debut with ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’.
You don’t often get projects in which you play so many roles. I was determined to play each and every one of them as convincingly as the audience needs to invest in the disguise so that they enjoy the election to the fullest. I had the best time in these looks/avatars like a full shifter and just putting my best foot forward,” she said.
The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi, who was last seen in the social comedy ‘Mimi’.
Tripathi, who plays a cop named Jatayu Singh in the upcoming film, described ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ as an “extremely funny film”.
“I liked the character introduced by my director Varun V Sharma and YRF and I hope I have done justice to the role. I am looking for this kind of role as it gives me creative freedom to just entertain the audience. through comedy,” he said.
‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’ is a romantic comedy directed by Varun Sharma and is slated to release in theaters across the world on 19th November.
