Dune box office report: Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi film hits $220 million worldwide

Dune has scored exceptionally well compared to what the box office report had anticipated. According to a report in Box Office Mojo, the Denis Villeneuve directorial has managed to collect $40.10 million in the domestic market this weekend.

As per the predictions made by various publications, it was said that Doon could bank on a good opening weekend. The collection was expected to be around $30 to 32 million domestically, ie in North America. Meanwhile, in Thursday’s preview, science fiction grossed $5.1 million, according to Deadline.

Box Office Mojo further calculated that Dune earned an average of $9,721 per screen in 4,125 theaters. The film has now grossed a whopping $220.7 million in the worldwide box office range. His previous report estimated worldwide collections of $130 million.

Based on the novel of the same name by Frank Harbert, the film was made on a budget of $165 million. The film and its plots are loved by critics! The film has scored a solid 83 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Dune revolves around a plot from the distant future. Established as an interstellar society, the aristocrats control the house planets as fiefdoms. The film’s main character, Paul Atreides, is a brilliant and talented man who has been gifted with a great fortune. To gain the pride and security of his family, the young man must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe. Here the existential fear is real.

Dune’s cast includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaacs, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, David Dustmalchian, Stephen Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.

The film was released in North America on 21 October, followed by a box office release in India on 21 October.
