Margot Robbie has finally found a prince for herself. Keeping an eye on who might be a good fit for the role, the team at Mattel and Warner Bros. have roped in Ryan Gosling for the role of Prince. The 2018 project by Robbie is finally being on board as Team Barbie announces production plans. Not much has been revealed other than revealing who the Prince and Princess are going to be along with the production date. The team is set to begin production at The WB’s Leavesden Studios in London from early 2022.
As well as playing a princess in the film, Robbie will also be producing the film under his LuckyChap Entertainment banner.
Last year the production house gave the audience the film ‘Promising Young Woman’, which came down to the Oscar-winning race. Other creators to join Robbie are Tom Ackerley and Josie McNamara of LuckyChap; Mattel’s Robbie Brenner and Yvonne Craze; and David Heyman.
Known for her roles in “Suicide Squad”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Focus”, Margot Robbie was last seen in “Toy Story 3”, where she lent voice to a character.
On the work front, Gosling recently wrapped up her production shoot for Anthony and Joe Russo’s big-budget Netflix thriller “The Gray Man” with Chris Evans. The film is based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Mark Graney. The story of a game of cat and mouse revolves around a CIA operative who retires but is forced to run away after a betrayal.
Gosling was last seen in ‘First Man’ as the legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong. The two-time Oscar nominee was most recently seen in ‘Blade Runner 2049’ opposite Harrison Ford. His Oscar nominations were for 2006’s Half Nelson and 2016’s La La Land. Ryan has gained his fame from several films, but the film that gave him the personality of a savvy boy came in his 2004 film ‘The Notebook’ opposite ‘Gossip Girl’ fame Rachel McAdams.
Greta Gerwig’s Barbie will have its theatrical release in the year 2023.
