    AR Rahman’s talent is giving India global recognition, the composer shared recently as his soundtrack for the Kriti Sanon-starrer Mimi has been presented for the 64th edition of the Grammy Awards. The singer and composer has already won several awards including two Grammys, two Academy Awards, a BAFTA, a Golden Globe, in addition to the innumerable Indian awards he has won.

    The 54-year-old record producer took to his Twitter handle to celebrate the news with his fans, writing, “I’m so excited to share that my soundtrack for Visual Media “MIMI” was presented for the 64th Grammy® Awards. Done. Your idea. Here’s a link. Thanks!!(sic)”

    Mimi, directed by Laxman Utekar, starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi, revolves around the story of a single mother from a small town in India and received a very positive response from the audience. Sanon reacted to the news of Rahman’s soundtrack being selected for a Grammy and wrote, “Wow!!! Congratulations sir!!(sic)”.

    AR Rahman won his first two Grammys in 2010, both for his work on the soundtrack of the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. Rahman won his Grammys for ‘Best Compilation Soundtrack for a Motion Picture’ and the ‘Best Motion Picture Song’ category for his song.Be victorious‘.

    He thanked God, his friends and family as he held his Grammys at the Staples Center in LA. “It’s crazy, God is great.” He shared the award with lyricists Gulzar and Tanvi Shah, the latter writing Spanish songs for international hits.

It followed Mimi (Kriti Sanon), a young woman who decides to become a surrogate mother to an international couple. After the couple abandons her and their unborn child due to alleged abnormalities in the children, the mother is left to raise the child with the help and support of her loved ones. Mimi’s original score and soundtrack was composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. Mimi, a comedy-drama, premiered on Netflix on July 26.
