Adele’s new song has been breaking records since its release on October 15. According to Spotify, she came back after six years with “Easy on Me” and the track garnered the most plays in a single day.
It also became the first requested song of the day for Alexa in the history of Amazon Music.
Adele didn’t stop there as her single reached another milestone a week after its release. The “Hello” singer nearly broke several radio records after leaving the ballad, but only a notch higher than the song itself. The song ‘Easy on Me’ is now on the verge of becoming the most played song in US radio history during its first week.
In the history of MediaBase, the song became the most added song by stations to their playlists, ie 451 stations to be exact.
Although such numbers can be achieved only when airplayed on multiple formats, Adele has broken a record here as well. According to Variety, “Easy on Me” became the first song to be added in five different formats in one week. Those formats are Top 40, AC (Adult Contemporary), Hot AC, AAA (Adult Album Option) and R&B.
The song will be featured in his upcoming album, ’30’, which will release on November 19. Their most recent album, ’25’ had the highest sales in the first week in the history of the US album charts – and that included the song. Hello’, which became the fastest YouTube video to reach 1 billion views.
‘Easy on Me’ surpassed K-pop boy band BTS, which previously held the record for most plays in a single day with their track ‘Butter’, which was released in May 2021.
According to Billboard, Spotify has 365 million monthly active users. Several Adele fans took to social media to acknowledge contributing to the count in the comments section of Spotify’s Instagram announcement.
