Filmmakers Rahul Dholakia and Hansal Mehta, who are closely following Aryan Khan’s arrest in a drug case, on Wednesday said the decision to reject his bail was “heartbreaking” and “outrageous”.

Aryan was arrested along with seven others on October 3 after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted a drugs party on a cruise ship. He is currently in Arthur Road Jail.

A special court here on Wednesday refused bail to Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan and two others in connection with the seizure of banned drugs.

Thereafter, Aryan’s lawyers immediately filed an appeal in the High Court challenging the order of the lower court.

Dholakia termed the decision as “outrageous” and demanded that Aryan should be released soon.

“Outrageous!!! You are saying that he has a ‘potential’ connection to an ‘international’ racket based on the ‘WhatsApp’ chats recovered from his phone, which you have seized on ‘bust’ where he has ‘nothing’ Was? And you have been fishing for days and still can’t find anything? #FreeAryanKhan,” the director, who has worked with Shah Rukh in “Raees”, said in a tweet.

Without naming anyone, Mehta expressed his anguish in a tweet, writing, “Tragedy continues. Exams continue. Heartbreaking.”

In a tweet, actor Swara Bhaskar called the court’s decision a “surprising abdication of the law .. in the charge of upholding the rule of law”.

Screenwriter Kanika Dhillon wrote on Twitter, “From media reports that WhatsApp is shoddy evidence for denial of bail – is it no longer about ‘Satyamev-Jayate’ but ‘My Name’ based on harassment? Is…’ and ‘Girna hai. Line yaar…..’ Is this a message for young India? #AryankhanDrugsCase #AryanKhanBail… Sad. Horror.”

Actor Konkona Sensharma shared a news about the court’s decision to reject Aryan’s bail. “Unbelievable,” she wrote.

Earlier in the day, filmmaker Reema Kagti commented on a post regarding Aryan’s bail hearing case today, saying that she is hopeful that he will be granted bail today.

“I hope Aryan gets bail today. He should not have been arrested in the first place; no possession, no consumption and NCB’s argument that he is part of an international drug peddling ring, to him and his family.” Just a ridiculous lie to bother about,” he wrote.

Strongly worded on social media, Kagti alleged that Aryan was being harassed for being the son of a famous Muslim man, referring to Shahrukh.

He said, “NCB itself has announced this in the court. So with due respect you can stand and say nothing while a 23-year-old is harassed for being the son of a famous Muslim man, But I choose not, thank you very much,” she said.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta also questioned Aryan’s “suspicious” arrest.

“Suspicious arrest, no drugs found, no trace in his blood and yet he spends 18 days in jail. Don’t those responsible for this have children of their own? How do you do that to someone else’s child? Huh?” He tweeted.

Three days ago, writer and former actor Twinkle Khanna compared Aryan’s arrest to the recently released South Korean survival human drama series Squid Game.

“Each player is given ten marbles and must compete in any sport of their choice to get their opponent’s marbles. In this episode, one of the strongest candidates is slandered and eventually ends up losing his marbles. I have lost mine too when I read the news of Shahrukh Khan’s son’s arrest,” she wrote on Instagram.

Khanna, who has worked with Shah Rukh, said, “While his friend was apparently carrying 6 grams of charas, there is no evidence of Aryan Khan’s possession. Nevertheless, the young boy has been in Arthur Road jail for almost two weeks. ” Added in 1999’s “Badshah”.

Khanna’s husband Akshay Kumar is yet to comment on the issue.
