    Indian-American filmmaker M Night Shyamalan has been announced as the President of the International Jury for the 2022 Berlin International Film Festival.

    The organizers of the festival shared the news in a statement posted on the official website.

    Artistic director Carlo Chatrian said he was “delighted and honored” that Shyamalan accepted the festival’s invitation to lead the jury.

    “Throughout his career he has shaped a universe in which fear and desire coexist, where youth are not only heroes, but also the driving force for overcoming fear.” Within the American Film Business Shyamalan is a unique individual, a filmmaker who has remained faithful to his vision.     The 51-year-old filmmaker said it is “deeply meaningful” for him to be a part of the Berlin Film Festival.

    “I’ve always felt like an independent filmmaker within the system of Hollywood. It’s really the different and unconventional things inside of us that define our voices. I’ve tried to keep these things to myself and look at those aspects.” Tried to please others in order to protect his art and himself,” Shyamalan said.

    He said, “Being asked to be a part of Berlinale means a lot to me. It represents the highest impression for a filmmaker. It’s a gift to be able to support and celebrate the world’s finest talent in storytelling.” which I have gladly accepted.”

    The Berlinale will return as an individual event with its 72nd edition to be held from 10 to 20 February 2022.

    The festival was one of the last major international festivals to be held individually before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

    This year, the festival was conducted in an online-only format.

    Organizers have said that the programming of the 2022 festival will be “nearly identical” to the pre-COVID-19 edition of Berlin in 2020.

    Short films, which were removed from the Generation sidebar for this year’s festivities, will return to the section in 2022.
