Akshay Kumar on Friday (October 15) announced that his much-awaited action-drama film Sooryavanshi will have a worldwide theatrical release on November 5.
The film’s director Rohit Shetty shared on social media last month that Sooryavanshi will release on Diwali, soon after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced the reopening of cinema halls in the state from October 22. However, no release date was announced at that time. .
Taking to social media, Kumar posted a short video in which he is seen alongside Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh – who have a cameo appearance in Sooryavanshi.
In a video shot inside a cinema hall, the three actors urged the audience to watch the film in theaters during Diwali.
Kumar said, “Do you remember this place where you have seen so many emotions. No one thought that there would be a gap in our lives like our films. We are back.”

Katrina Kaif, who starred opposite Kumar in Sooryavanshi, said it has been a long wait but she is happy to finally be back in theatres.
“18 months have passed for our entire entertainment industry including film and stage because of the pandemic. It has been a long and arduous wait for us but finally patience has won and we are back!
Kaif said, “Now it is not just about our film but it is about our industry as a family and our relationship with our beloved audience. So let’s come together for the magic of cinema! 5 Sooryavanshi releasing on November!”
Sharing similar sentiments, Shetty said that he is excited to experience the magic of cinemas again with Sooryavanshi.
The 48-year-old director wrote, “Now it’s not about my film or your film, it’s about our film industry, our theaters and our audience. Let’s come together for the magic of cinema. Sooryavanshi on November 5th. is releasing.”
Devgn also asked people to come back to cinema halls this Diwali.
“Come back to theaters this Diwali! Sooryavanshi is releasing on November 5. #Sooryavanshi #BackTwoCinemas,” he said.
Singh also expressed excitement over the release of “Sooryavanshi” in theatres.
“Sooryavanshi Cinemas is back!!! Releasing on November 5 #sooryavanshi #backtocinemas #RohitShetty,” he said.
The film, which was originally scheduled to release on March 24, 2020, got delayed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic, which led to the closure of cinemas across the country.
This is Shetty’s fourth film in the cop world after blockbusters like Devgn’s Singham, Singham Returns and Singh starrer Simmba.
The upcoming film is presented by Reliance Entertainment and produced by Rohit Shetty Pictures in association with Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films.
