Enforcement Directorate has issued fresh summons to Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez in the Sukesh Chandrasekhar case. Fernandez was supposed to appear at the agency’s Delhi office on Saturday, but she could not. As per reports, she cited professional commitments for her absence. This is the third time the actress has not appeared before the ED. She first appeared before him on August 30. He has been summoned again on Monday.

The actor had on Saturday informed his fans on social media that he is shooting for Ooty in Ram Setu starring enemy Akshay Kumar, which is slated to release on Diwali 2022. Sharing the picture, featuring Akshay Kumar, the actor wrote, “Feels great to be back on the sets with Team Ram Setu.”

Earlier this week, another Bollywood sensation, actor, dancer Nora Fatehi was summoned by the ED for the same. His team later issued a statement saying that he has been called by the ED as a witness in the case.

The statement said, “Nora Fatehi has been a victim of the case, and being a witness, she is cooperating and helping the authorities in the investigation. We would like to make it very clear that she has not been a part of anyone. Money.” Laundering activity, she does not know or has any personal relationship with the accused and ED has called her to help in the investigation strictly.”

The above actors are being questioned in a money laundering case against alleged fraudster Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his actor-wife Leena Paul. The couple has already been arrested by the Delhi Police for duping the family of Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivendra Singh of around Rs 200 crore.

The case was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Singh’s wife Aditi, that a man posing as a senior law ministry official had offered to help Mr Singh get bail in exchange for money. He further alleged that he paid Rs 200 crore in 30 installments from June 2020. Apparently, he was told that this money was for BJP’s party fund.

Aditi Singh even claimed that she was told that Home Minister Amit Shah and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad are on her side.

Chandrashekhar is an accused in more than 21 cases so far. He is lodged in Rohini Jail in Delhi.

According to the NDTV report, the central agency had seized a sea-facing bungalow in Chennai, worth Rs 85 lakh, in August. Besides this, goods worth Rs 20 crore ranging from shoes, bags and clothes of international brands were also seized.

The ED, in a statement, had claimed that Chandrashekhar is a “known thug” and is being probed by the Delhi Police for alleged criminal conspiracy, cheating and extortion of around Rs 200 crore.

The Enforcement Directorate is probing whether Nora or Jacqueline had carried out any financial transactions involving Chandrashekhar or his wife Leena Paul. Fatehi was questioned for over 8 hours on Thursday, Jacqueline was questioned for over 4 hours in her last appearance.

Leena Paul, an actor and one of the main accused, has appeared in several Malayalam films. He was also seen in John Abraham starrer Madras Cafe.
