Filmmaker Prakash Jha-starrer short film Highway Nights has been awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the Best of India Short Film Festival 2021.
Billed as a heartwarming tale that talks about abuse, the film centers on an aging, overworked lorry driver who gives a lift to a young, gossipy sex worker one night and how they do something. Over the short journey of hours develop a bond.
Jha, who has worked in films like Mrutyadand, Jai Gangaajal and Saand Ki Aankh, said he is excited by the recognition.
The director-actor said, “I am excited to hear the news and I congratulate the entire team. It is a film with an important message and I hope the film reaches a wider audience with theatrical, digital and television broadcasts across the world. ” in a statement.
The short film, starring Majel Vyas, is directed by Shubham Singh.
Singh said that the story of Highway Nights is such that it will strike a chord with audiences across the globe.
He said, “This is my first short film and it is a pleasure to receive such accolades. I am grateful to Prakash ji for agreeing to act in my film. people can join.”
