The Hindi movie ‘Chehre’, which was released in theaters after Corona’s second wave, seems to be clear on the first day itself at the box office. Adorned with stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Annu Kapoor, Dhritiman Chatterjee, Raghuveer Yadav, Krystle D’Souza, Rhea Chakraborty and Siddhant Kapoor, audiences did not ask for the film on the first day. Due to the film’s budget and the applicable 50 percent capacity rule in cinemas, business experts had estimated the business for this film to be around Rs 1 million on the first day, but the film could not even collect half of his collection on Friday. In the movie review, the movie ‘Chehre’ has a two-star rating.
The movie ‘Chehre’ marks the return of Amitabh Bachchan to the big screen after a long time. Recently, his game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ has also been released on the small screen and because of this, it remains in constant discussion. His film ‘Badla’, released after the failure of Amitabh Bachchan’s mega-budget film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ with Yash Raj Films, also garnered an average response at the box office. After this his only glimpses were seen in the Telugu film ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’, the Marathi film ‘AB Aani CD’ and the Hindi film ‘Ghoomketu’.
Amitabh Bachchan’s charisma was also lacking in the first Hindi film ‘Gulabo Sitabo’, which premiered directly on OTT after the start of Corona’s transition period. Amitabh Bachchan’s appearance in the film changed so much that his own voice and aura were not visible in the film. I watched the movie a lot, but most people didn’t like this movie. After that, Amitabh Bachchan’s movie ‘Chehre’ was released. His local company, Saraswati Entertainment, is also a co-producer and participates in the profits from the film.
The director of the film ‘Chehre’, Rumi Jaffrey has directed three more films before this one and none of them were remembered by people from a box office success point of view. Based on the story written by Ranjit Kapoor, Rumi himself has written the script and dialogue for the film. The OTT rights to the film ‘Chehre’ have been sold to Prime Video and the satellite rights to the SET MAX channel. The cost of the film is believed to have already been recovered from its sale. Famous Mumbai builder Anand Pandit, who has been active in film distribution until now, has directly entered film production with the film ‘Chehre’.
Due to not adopting the correct strategy of promotion and marketing of the films, the film ‘Chehre’ also faces many losses at the box office. In many theaters, even a dozen spectators did not get to see the movie ‘Chehre’ on the first day. According to information received from the merchant, the film’s net take on the first day was only Rs 40 lakh and is considered much lower than expected in terms of the Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi film.
