Raj was arrested by the Crimes Section of the Mumbai Police on July 19. The court sent him to judicial custody after his period of police custody ended on July 27 and he is currently housed at the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai. Raj has challenged his arrest in Bombay High Court, calling it illegal, after hearing that the High Court has reserved the decision.
At the same time, Raj has challenged the decision of the Court of First Instance not to grant bail in the court of sessions, to be held on 10 August.
